Uganda Tourist Visa – single entry requirements
Review eligibility, passport rules, validity, required documents, processing and entry information for the single-entry product.
What is the Uganda Tourist Visa – single entry?
This is the standard Ordinary visa category for visa-required travellers making one temporary visit to Uganda. It can cover tourism, medical treatment, family visits, conferences and other permitted temporary purposes when the relevant documents are provided.
Who can apply?
Visa-required travellers must obtain their Travel Authorization or Visa Approval Letter before beginning their journey. The appropriate category must match the actual travel purpose.
Visa-exempt nationalities
Nationals of the current exemption countries do not need this visa. Exemptions also apply in certain circumstances to qualifying Conventional Travel Document holders, diplomatic or official passport holders, recognized international-organization travel documents and serving British Military members.
Travel purposes
The single-entry product supports tourism, family visits, conferences, medical travel, transit-related circumstances shown in the application, and other permitted temporary purposes. Employment requires a separate immigration status.
Other Uganda visa categories
Separate products exist for Multiple-Entry, Diplomatic and Official, Transit and East African Tourist visas. They have different eligibility, validity and supporting-document rules and are not part of this application.
Validity and entry
The visa permits one entry and may allow a stay of up to three months. The approval authorization is valid for travel for 90 days from approval; if unused during that period it is automatically invalidated and a new application is required.
Passport requirements
Provide the passport biographical-data page. The passport or travel document must have at least six months of validity.
Documents for every applicant
Every applicant provides a passport biographical-data page and a recent passport-size photograph. Documents should be in English. Additional material can be requested during processing.
Tourism documents
The current application flow requests the passport page, photograph and return ticket. Tour plans, travel bookings and accommodation information may also support the application or be requested later.
Family visit documents
A family visit requires the passport page, photograph, return ticket, invitation letter and evidence of the host’s immigration status. Accommodation or host address information is also collected.
Conference, medical and other purposes
Conference travel requires the relevant invitation. Medical travel requires a supporting document for the purpose of the visit. Other purposes require a cover letter explaining the visit.
Photo requirements
A recent passport-size photograph is required. The current product information does not publish extra dimensions, background rules or resolution requirements. A conference or business-related photograph should be from the previous six months.
Processing time
Visa decisions normally take less than three working days, although this is not a guarantee. Further information or documents may be requested. Apply at least ten days before intended travel.
Children endorsed on a passport
When an accompanying child is endorsed on the applicant’s passport, provide the child’s name, gender and date of birth. Each case remains subject to the travel-document and entry requirements.
Approval and entry
Download and print the Approval Letter or Travel Authorization. At entry, travellers may be required to provide biometrics and present the printed approval, valid passport and documents supplied with the application. Approval does not remove the border-entry assessment.
Health information
A Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is no longer a mandatory entry requirement and is not requested in this application.
Extensions
The initial period granted at entry may be extended for another 60 days in two intervals, subject to the applicable process and decision.
After submission
Additional information can be requested electronically during assessment. Monitor the application email and status until a decision is issued.
